Finding a lab isn't like finding a vendor; it's like finding a spouse. You're going to be in the trenches together, dealing with stability issues, ingredient shortages, and production delays. If you don't trust them, the whole process becomes a nightmare.
Don't just look for the lab that can make your product. Look for the lab that *wants* to make your product. If you're an indie brand, you don't want to be the smallest client at a massive global manufacturer. You'll get pushed to the back of the line every single time.
Ask about their minimum order quantities (MOQs), but also ask about their lead times and their quality control process. Ask to visit. If a lab won't let you see where the products are actually being made, walk away.
The right lab partner will help you iterate. They'll tell you when an ingredient choice is going to cause stability issues down the line. They'll save you from yourself.
